Good food = Healthy dogs

It's been a gradual learning experience for me, this whole "best food for your dog" promotion. I've been fortunate that my dogs have all been blessed with the number of healthy years we hope for. However -- at least with my Golden Retrievers -- the cancer diagnoses have been all too familiar. This has manifested in bone cancer in two of them, and then a nasal carcinoma in another.

With my current 1/2 Golden, 1/2 Border Collie, in addition to the frozen raw white fish and salmon, I add my own concoction. I do this partly to lessen the cost of feeding straight frozen raw. The other motivation is to fill in the gaps that could be missing otherwise. Organic chicken wings (cooked), and then loaded up with green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes. This is also what I think extended the good years of my Goldens when their health was taking a downturn.

I want to share this with anyone who's having questions about what's the best nutritional value. I also stay away from commercial dog treats, this after I've read just a little about the lack of oversight that may be in the preparation. So frozen peanut butter treats are the specialty here at Mary's Buddies. I hope this personal experience is useful information. I appreciate any comments and suggestions. This is a blog for all of us!
